Description:
ADU's are (as the name suggests) automated unmanned guns that can be placed to defend something should personel run short. The calibres used in the ADU's differs from type to type, as an example the Mark3 uses 10mm while the Mark8 uses 12mm. To handle the obvious problem of recoil, the ADU has to be bolted to the ground through its tripod to prevent it from falling over. The ADU is also equipped with small motors so that it can rotate the turret around and thus be quite effective. All ADU's are equipped with a camera, optical targeting software, cooler unit, remote control (300m effective range and with 20x20cm gel screen), chippy lead, laser painting, rangefinder. Optional ADU modules include Advanced Recognition Software (recognice friend from foe), IR and UV 'cameras' and long range transmision (can transmit data from ADU up to 300km away). The ADU can be programmed to be triggered in many diffrent ways (examples are height and mass of target) though the most common one is for the ADU to fire at anything within range that moves, the programming core of the ADU's also allow for control of the units ROF, which can also be adjusted on the Remote Control. ADU's are warworld equipment, and is not available anywhere on Mort. The ADU project is a cooperation between MAL and FEN, with FEN delivering the optical software (FEN are well known for their Scout Helmets) while MAL took care of the balistic parts. Last, it should be said that the ADU's are quite favored on the war worlds, there is nothing quite like setting them up in abandoned bases, and then let the Dark Night troops get blown apart when they come looking for stuff to salvage.
