I tend to use Red, Blue and Yellow BPNs as relaxation storylines and the Jade, Green, Grey and White BPNs as more cerebral BPNs.
It means they have to do more work for the higher increases in SCL inherent with Jade/Grey/Green BPNs. My rule of thumb was always one 3-4 hour session per 0.1 SCL increase. Red's where the only exception, but then they tended to have a higher death threat and could delay an ongoing BPN (Squad is on a White BPN surveilling (SP?) a place. A Red situation breaks out and they are the only squad in the area that can respond. By the time they have dealt with the Red the target for surveillance has disappeared and the investigation must continue through some other avenue.)
I try to award around 2 XP per 0.1 SCL, therefore a White BPN would take five session and they'd get about 5-15 XP for it. However, I don't award the XP until _after_ the BPN has been completed (or the SCL or the money or the psychosis...)
Red and Blacks tend to be an exception to the above but they have a higher death threat and so the XPs for surviving tend to be warranted.
Necanthropes would appear at about SCL 5/6 (ie that is how long before they get a Formula of 8 or 9). With an average of 2XP per 0.1 SCL, they get 40XP at SCL9, 60XP at SCL 8, 80XP at SCL7 and 100XP at SCL6 => 280XP extra before they become a Necanthrope. With weekly sessions it would take a little under three years of playing to take a starting Ebon up to Nec status which seems about right for me.
