What are DarkFinders?

The original Dark Finders (up to about 895SD) were all Cloak Division Biogenetic creations, using Angel's gene-code. Cloak Division has its own biogenetic creation facility called MorningStar Replication, that very few people know about. They also carefully monitor all Karma experiments to ensure that they do not study certain areas (like making human-looking Stormers).

These first Dark Finders spent most of their time either unseen or lurking around Uptown. They were not a truly visible force and special permission had to be gained to allow them to appear on camera. Most people just assumed they were an elite branch of Shivers (although obviously upgraded and with 12.7mm Automatics).

At 895SD, the first true LAD experiments were undertaken on Operatives killed in the line of duty. These were all covert experiments which the general populace knew nothing about. Although it was possible to bring the fallen back to life again, the early experiments could do little for the original personalities. The degradation of the mind was similar to that of someone in 903 SD being bought back by LAD over twenty times... These effectively Zombie troops (who still retained their combat skills, just no real sign of a personality) became the Enforcer Shivers.

With improvements in the LAD treatment it became possible to retain much of the personality and life experiences of the LAD individual. However after a few successful LAD attempts the personality does become more Sociopathic and loyal to SLA Industries above all else. These individuals are then fully upgraded with Nuke Tendons (if they aren't already) and become new Dark Finders.

The LAD Dark Finders are normally given a squad of 7 Biogen Dark Finders to lead. The LAD Dark Finder tends to be a bit more versatile and imaginative in the tasks that the squad is set, whilst the loyalty of the biogenetics is unquestionable. Either way the squad of eight complements itself well and allows it to deal with more varied tasks than before. This is why Dark Finders are being used more and more by Cloak (and IA) at the moment. That and the fact that LAD keeps supplying them with all these new troops...
