Mort Time Zones and Calendar

Mort uses a 24 hour clock, even though it axtually takes longer than this to completely rotate around its orbit. This difference is not noticed by most of the inhabitants as with the continuous rain, it is always dark outside anyway. The original settlers choose a 24 hour period as that was what they were used to from their original planets and also because Mr Slayer preferred working on a 24 hour basis. This time base is kept constant throughout the planet, with Meny using the same timezone as Mort Central even though they are on opposite sides of the planet.

The months on Mort follow a pattern dictated to the population by Mr Slayer. This includes 12 months which on average are 30 days long. Mort's moon Orange Crush orbits the planet every 13 days, rather than following this cycle. It has been proposed that the difference between the natural cycle of the planet and that enforced by Mr Slayer is the reason why Mort suffers from an epidemic of Serial Killers, a fact which is partly proven by the general increase in deaths during a natural full moon.

Hallowe'en (Samhain) - 31OCTRumoured to be birthdate of Halloween Jack. Celebrated mostly by Serial Killers. Feared by everyone else. Gore Zone holds a special annual event on this date.

SLAMass - 25DECA time where everyone swaps presents and even the unemployed will receive gifts from Welfare. Celebrates the coming of Mr Slayer and the gifts he has bought everyone since his arrival.
