Also have a look at the little cross section map I did a while back.
My ideas on Mort are that it is concentric circles heading outwards. The Cannibal Sectors are about 2500 miles away from Mort Central, which takes about 4 hours on a Gauss train at 600mph. Most of the planet is uninhabited with the remnants of machinery and toxic waste filling most of the surface. Orienta is a collection of small cities which are on the opposite side to Mort Central and Meny is closer to Orienta than Mort. Even with the majority of Mort covered in automatic machines there are still small townships which are nominally under sla control and surrounded by true cannibals and monsters who live in the uninhabited sections. All of the inhabited areas are linked by a vast Gauss train network which outside of each city travels at speeds of up to MACH 5 (3,000mph) which is just as well as the planets circumference is about 300,000 miles (100 hour journey at top speed...) Dark Lament also has Fold Portals between most of the major cities, but these cost a lot more money than the Gauss trains.
The highest population area are in DownTown which is mostly made up of brick and concrete. Most of the brick buildings were made about 20 storeys high, although giant concrete pillars were made to support additional levels. In the depths of DownTown you can descend through about 100 storeys if you were brave/stupid enough with buildings being built over other buildings and being supported by the concrete pillars. Every now and then DarkNight will collapse a pillar, causing devastation in about a mile area as all of the buildings collapse on top of each other. Not much can be done for the survivors so SLA normally just plants another pillar and starts rebuilding above them. The depths of DownTown have started resembling the Cannibal Sectors as people have been trapped underneath the buildings. Every moment down here is a battle for survival as the above buildings could settle further at any opportunity.
Also running through the depths of DownTown are huge 10 meter thick, concrete tunnels. These tunnels are either part of the sewer system or the Gauss train system. Some of the DownTown inhabitants have broken through these pipes near to the top, and will have entrance ways into the tunnels. About half of them are still in proper use, with the remainder either abandoned or now inhabited.
Suburbia is mostly 20 storey high concrete towerblocks which have little above them. However underneath the ground are subway systems, Gauss train lines, and vast processing plants which stretch down many miles. There are rumoured to be several communities that live buried amongst the depths of the Suburbia and it is also possible for creatures to rise from beneath and attack the Suburbans. Despite the best efforts from the Shivers on the Wall there are also several routes that link DownTown to Suburbia.
Uptown is all high rise buildings made of steel, and concrete. The buildings here are like the ones in the film version of Judge Dredd, where the higher up you live the better the apartments. The bottom ten levels or so are actually beneath the excepted ground/road level and it is here most of the service industry of Uptown is carried out. Above this level everything seems controlled and sedate, with few vehicles on the roads (most delivery vehicles are not permitted up here and so have to travel on the service roads beneath) and even fewer in the sky. The presence of SLA is everywhere though as giant advertising hoardings play non stop commercials for all hours.
Mort Central is again high rise buildings but these are made out of the latest materials and are all custom designed by skilled architects. Again there are hidden service levels, but security here is a lot tighter than Uptown. At the center of it all is Slayer's HQ where most departments have their main offices. The importance of each Department can easily be seen by how high up their offices are, although right at the top is Mr Slayer's Spire, where he can watch all of the ants scurrying below him. May attempts have been tried at destroying this figure piece of SLA Industries, but the Spire has formidable defences and nothing has compromised it in its 900 year history.
